Part 1 (term 1) 20% Scoring & Process
Metropolis mix –you will be allocated one of three movie extracts for which you will create a soundtrack using either Sound Edit, Cubase, Protools, Soundtrack Reason, Ableton Live etc – a combination of collected samples/sounds should be used. Attention to detail ie breadth of textures/frequencies, subtlety of timing, layers and spatialisation – position of sounds within the mix, silence, noise. Clips/tracks to be combined in groups of three in linear order for presentation, submission on labeled/named CD during week 4 tutorial with mp3 version added your module mini site.
Screening of submitted works in week 4 lecture.
NB: For the metropolis mix avoid the obvious ‘backing track’ with spot effects formula – originality, integrity and engagement in the scoring process are your first objectives-can be mixed/performed live but must submit a finished ‘track’ as server handin.
Part 2 (term 1)30%
